2011 Preseason
If the Jets back ups had actually put forth any type of real effort against the Eagles, I’d be inclined to write a full review of the game but with that disaster, it was hard to find much good in the Jets’ performance.
The Eagles jumped out early and dominated in most phases. The Jets never got a whiff of Vince Young and he carved them up for 193 yards on 15-23 passing and a touchdown before leaving with a hamstring injury.

Sanchez could not move the offense.
|
After rescheduling the game twice because of Hurricane Irene, Jets fans were eager to see the Green and White in what is typically the most entertaining game of the preseason - week 3. But neither offense looked good and the game was tough to watch.
Sixteen penalties, three turnovers and some ugly offensive play marred the last game that starters will see significant action. Aside from one or two series, the starters will be watching Thursday’s game from the sideline so last night was their last real tune up before the season.

The Jets' vaunted defense warrants 5th round consideration.

What’s the ultimate Jet’s fantasy? It depends upon who you ask:
For Joe Namath: Suzy Kolber
For Brett Favre: Jenn Sterger
Oh, not that type of fantasy?

Burress was dialed in.
|
There was a lot of anticipation leading up to last night’s game. After sitting out the first game against Houston, Plaxico Burress showed why the Jets’ braintrust pursued him so hard.
With seconds to go before the half, he made an over-the-shoulder catch that only a few guys in this league can make. What an impressive catch! Burress was 3-66 with the one TD and was the offensive standout for the Jets.

McElroy had a gutsy performance.
|
The Jets’ 20-16 loss to the Texans was certainly tough to watch at times. With 9 penalties and 7 sacks allowed, Rex Ryan and his squad started off their 2011 season with a game they would rather forget.
The preseason is a tough time for Ryan-coached teams. For the last three years, the Jets have featured talented front-line starters but their back-ups, those who get the lion’s share of playing time in the preseason, have been subpar.

Vereen fits the Pats' system but was a reach in the 2nd round.

Some things never change. Every year Bill Belichick enters the draft with a stockpile of picks and every year he leaves with another haul for next year.
He went into the 2011 draft with two picks in each of the first three rounds. Now, any other team would go to town and come away with some real blue chippers but not Belichick. He always leaves you wanting more.

Thomas' upright running style is going to get him hurt.
|
The Dolphins are a tough team to figure out. They won the AFC East (11-5 record) in their first year (2008) of the Bill Parcells era and have fallen back since with consecutive 7-9 seasons.
I have never been a big fan of Parcells’ drafts. He will hit on his first rounders but frequently whiffs in the second round and later and you just can’t do that and expect to win.
