Sergio Kindle

Sergio Kindle

OLB, Texas
6-3, 250, 4.7-40
Projection: 1st round

Kindle should be long gone by the time the Jets pick but if they were going to move up for a player this year, Kindle would be the guy. He is athletic, instinctive and competitive and has everything you look for in a rush linebacker.

He consistently delivered game-changing plays at Texas and should do the same in the NFL. He plays with great balance and agility and moves well through traffic. He is strong enough to take on the TE in the running game and shed him to make the tackle. His real strength is rushing the passer. He has excellent burst off the line and superior closing speed to the QB. He is not accustomed to playing in a two-point stance since he played 4-3 DE at Texas but he will be able to transition to OLB without a problem. He is smooth dropping into coverage and can flip his hips to change directions easily. He is very instinctive and plays faster than his timed speed. Does not get fooled by misdirection or play action. Also has great anticipation and is often the first player moving at the snap. He is a good open-field tackler and breaks down well in space. He has some character red flags which will have to be investigated but if they check out, he could be a playmaking OLB in the mold of Terrell Suggs and most recently, Brian Cushing and Brian Orakpo.
